Education & Training

Dr Bali originally worked as a dentist before becoming a doctor, qualifying in both with first class honours and distinctions. After completing his residency and general surgical training, he was accepted into the orthopaedic training which covered all aspects of upper and lower limb surgery.

After completing his orthopaedic specialist training he then underwent further training at world renowned units in

  • Complex trauma
  • Trauma and deformity correction with circular frames
  • Hip and Knee replacements
  • Adult and Paediatric Foot and Ankle surgery including ankle replacements
I explain to every patient their individual condition and the treatment options available, so together we can make a decision on the best way to progress
Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon

Since obtaining the Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics, Navi initially worked as a trauma consultant and did fellowships at several units with experts in their field, learning the latest and most reliable techniques to help his patients. As well as honing techniques in hip and knee replacements and complex trauma, he is able to provide keyhole and minimal invasive foot and ankle surgery to quicken recovery and improve outcomes. He can also perform ankle replacements, and was was one of the first surgeons in the UK to use the new revision ankle system.

After working at the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital, he now works in the public hospital at Hervey Bay and Maryborough where he regularly performs general orthopaedic surgery for both elective and trauma cases. Privately he works as part of the Nautilus orthopaedic group and runs his clinic from their rooms, with operating lists at St Stephens Hospital in Hervey Bay.

Outside of work Navi has 4 boys including a greedy labrador, and all make the most of their weekends off by either playing soccer or going away with friends to the many amazing locations the region has to offer. Having been through fracture and ligament reconstructive surgery himself, he knows what its like to be on the other side and this has given him a better appreciation for what he needs to provide as a surgeon. He has lived in Australia for several years and feels very lucky to have settled in the beautiful Wide Bay region.

I treat all my patients with the same high-quality care that I would expect my own family to receive
